That Was Then......This Is Now

I was looking through the office the other day and look what I found.....WOW! It's hard to believe that was 25 years ago. We have been through good times and bad, sickness and health, richer and poorer, but PRAISE THE LORD, we are still together!

We celebrated our 25th anniversary back in November, but I want Skippy to know that every day I get to spend with him in this life, is a blessing to me.  And knowing that I will spend eternity with my Heavenly Father and the love of my life, fills my heart with joy!

I LOVE YOU, MY SKIPPY MAN!!

A Walk Down Memory Lane

Wednesday's Walk Down Memory Lane

Come for a walk with me down Memory Lane!
And if you have a "Memory Lane" post, head on over to Scottsville to join in on the fun!

My walk today (yes, I know I'm a day late, but hey...it's a wonder I even got on at all! lol ) takes us back only a few months to this past summer. Kiddo and I had taken a trip to PA to visit a close friend of mine and while we were there, I had the AWESOME, privilege of FINALLY meeting my friend and fellow stay-at-homeschool-mom, Kimberly. We met on a WONDERFUL site called The Homeschool Lounge a good while back, and we have been friends ever since. It was one of those immediate friendships from the very first word we typed each other. Sometimes I can't decide if that was a good thing or a bad thing! ROFLOL! Trust me....IT'S ALL GOOD! :> )

Kiddo and I were blessed not only to meet Kim, but to meet her daughter and son as well. We didn't get a chance to meet her husband. That was probably a good thing for him! lol They are such a wonderful Christian family with such a zest for life, and who love each other dearly!

I pray you have had a wonderful and safe holiday season and will have a blessed New Year!

Look out 2010......HERE WE COME!

My walk today takes us back to Christmas 2004. My mom had just passed away in October so this was my first Christmas without her.

The next two years would prove to be very difficult for me, but PRAISE GOD, He is a loving and forgiving God and is always waiting there for us to return to Him, with outstretched arms.

THANK YOU, JESUS!

My walk today takes us back to 2004. It was a couple of days after Christmas, and my brother had just been diagnosed with a terminal disease. After numerous tests to determine if the results were correct, the doctor gave him the news....the tests were conclusive. I remember I started praying that very moment while we were talking.......

"God....you are the great physician and you can perform miracles.
Please perform one now and heal Chris and make him new again in YOU! Show him your love and give him a peace that passes all understanding about all that is to come. Bring him closer to You, Father. Let him experience firsthand, your miraculous, healing power. Lord, I pray that Chris will come to know you as his personal Savior, and if this path you are having him walk is what it will take to bring him closer to you, we will be there every step of the way, holding his hand. I pray this all in your precious name...AMEN!"

Well, upon hearing this, we packed up in an hour and headed to TX. Chris didn't know we were coming and I couldn't BELIEVE we were going. Especially on that short of notice, but when family needs you.....YOU JUST GO!!!

It was a "sudden surprise attack" that only my sister Barbara (in the purple) knew about. We didn't tell anyone, except Skippy's boss. While we were there, Chris took us all out for breakfast at DENNY'S! Oh, I just LOVE that restaurant! :> )

Our visit just seemed way to short, as visits with family usually do, but we had such a good time and did lots of things while we were there. We even drove to San Antonio and went to the Alamo and The River Walk. We took a nice relaxing ride on the gondola type boats there. It was funny....our driver (is that what you call them?) even sang for us. It was a BEAUTIFUL! Everything was still decorated with Christmas lights.

I will never forget our trip and all the memories that were made. But what I won't forget MOST OF ALL, is the phone call we got a month later. My brother called me crying. He said that a MIRACLE had happened. He said they were running tests again and said that apparently, the first tests that were done were WRONG!! "What, Chris? What are you saying?" He said, "THE TESTS WERE WRONG..........I AM FINE! I AM GOING TO LIVE TO BE AN OLD MAN! IT'S A MIRACLE!!!"

PRAISE THE LORD! GOD, YOU ARE AMAZING!!!

A year later, my brother gave his life to Christ and last year was even baptized! WAY TO GO, GOD!!!

My walk today takes us back 34 years to 1975. I was a Sunbeam in The Salvation Army and every year the had a rally for all the Sunbeams in the division. At each rally, they would have a certain theme and you would have to make something depicting that theme. I can not remember what it was exactly for that year, but it had something to do with making your dreams come true.

My mom and her best friend, Arlene, would spend days making the costumes each year for this rally. This particular year, mom made this dress with nothing but crepe paper in less than 24 hours. WOW! Can you believe that? It was truly AMAZING! I remember so vividly them trying to get the sparkles out of my hair. Perhaps it would have been a lot EASIER, had they not GLUED THEM IN!!!!!!!

Oh, yeah....BTW.......WE WON FIRST PLACE! :> )

"Honor your father and your mother, as the LORD your God commanded you, that your days may be long, and that it may go well with you in the land that the LORD your God is giving you!"
Deuteronomy 5:16

I am not sure when my walk is taking us back to today....but if I really took the time to do the Math, I probably could. In this picture, I believe Mom is about the same age as I am now, which is 44. I LOVE looking at old pictures of Mom. She was such a special lady and a WONDERFUL mother whom I loved dearly! I only hope that my children will be able to say the same thing about me when I am absent from this body and present with my Lord and Savior!

So, do you think I resemble Mom at all? I used to think I didn't until I put these two pictures together ...... WOW! And for me, that is just AWESOME because I always thought my mom was so BEAUTIFUL!

My walk today takes us back to 1996. This is a picture of my sisters and I. In 1996, that would make me.......OMWord.....31 years YOUNG! I know you can tell which one is me. I am the BEST LOOKING one of the group! (kkkkkkkk..........choking on her words!)

My sisters and I would have so much fun together, as well as get INTO so much trouble. Oh, the good 'ole days! lol
Unfortunately, as life would have it, we have been separated by the miles; Barbara is in TX, Dawn is in FL, and Vickie is with our Heavenly Father. Lucky for me though, that Cathy lives in the same state of CONFUSION that I live in! lol
Sisters..................they are WONDERFUL!

My walk today takes us back to the "I don't have a clue"time of my life! lol Literally, I really don't have ANY clue WHEN this picture was taken, but what I DO remember is that we were at Aunt Mickie and Uncle Ed's house in Cranford, NJ. Oh, how I LOVED going there! :> ) They are two of the most wonderful people you would ever want to meet.

I LOVE YOU, AUNT MICK & UNCLE ED!
MWUAH!

Missing from this picture are my cousins on my Uncle Jimmy's side. There are my three cousins on Aunt Micky's side; Bobby and Jimmy (twins) and Carol Ann. Then the eight of us; Ralph, Dawn, Richard, Victoria, Barbara, Christian, Laura, and Cathy.

Can you tell which one is me? :> )

My walk today takes us back quite a few years.

I really wish I knew when this picture was taken, but there was no date stamp on it anywhere.

This is my maternal grandmother. Her name is Fredericka Amelia Walker Harrington, but we called her either Fred-A, or my favorite...... FOXY! :> )

The good Lord blessed me with two of the most wonderful grandmothers anyone could ever hope for. I just pray that I will be as wonderful a grandmother to my grandchildren as both of them were to me. What encouraging, loving, compassionate women they both were!

I love and miss you, Foxy!

My walk today takes us back 12 years (OMGosh!) to the summer 1997 when Kiddo was just three years old. He just LOVED the park. We could stay there for hours and just swing! I just love the expression on his face and they way he would bit those precious little lips of his.

That's my precious baby boy!

I YOU, KIDDO!

My walk today takes us back to 1935. This is a picture of my
mom and her siblings. I tried to make the picture bigger, but it was distorting the picture.

From left to right: Uncle Jimmy, Mom, and Aunt Mickey. All three of them passed away within
8 months of each other during 2004-2005.

I love and miss you all very much!

Our walk today takes us back to 1930-1931. This is my dad when he was between 1-2. Isn't he cute? And look at that little hat! ADORABLE!!! And YES, he is HUGE! He grew to be 6'11 at his tallest but was a string bean most of his life.

Wednesday's Walk Down Memory Lane

We are going back not to far, to August 2004. We had just finished camping for a week at Cherrystone Family Campground in Cherriton, VA. BEAUTIFUL place to be.

Once you get there, you don't have to leave for anything. They have a mini grocery store, laundry mat, seafood & vegetable stand, boat and bicycle rental, paddle boats, even a restaraunt.

In order to get to Cherrystone, you have to cross the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel coming and going. This is a picture taken when we stopped on our way back home. Can you tell Kiddo was having a great time? LOL
