Recycling/Repurposing Cabinets

In our old house, I had a big sewing room with lots of closet and cabinet space for all my fabrics and other crafting necessaries. When we left and moved to the cottage, I was adamant about taking the cabinets with us. I knew we didn't have anywhere near the space we previously had, so I knew that these cabinets were a must.  I quickly found out exactly how little storage space we really had.

In putting together my sewing room, I realized that the cabinets wouldn't fit in this small space, so I had to come up with another use for them.  Skippy and I had always wanted an island in the kitchen so we decided to do just that.
We started out with three cabinets, but they took up too much room.
As you can see, we only used two, which left the top too big.
After Skippy cuts it to the correct size, we will sand it, stain it, and polyurethane the top.
After that we will put a piece of bead board on the back and a
toe plate (since I can't remember what it's really called) all along the bottom.
I will definitely post pics when we have it completed.
I am so happy I now have a lot more space to put my pots and pans.
Now I'll be able to put my groceries in the cabinets where they belong instead of on the book shelf in the back room.  The remaining cabinet will get a top as well and will go in the sewing
room so I can lay out my fabrics and patterns.

FINALLY

I have been searching for a push mower for years, but with not much luck. Actually, I found one last year at a yard sale but couldn't get in touch with Skippy to see if we could afford to get it at that time, so I had to pass.

I finally found one at another yard sale for only $10.00 dollars, but the sweet lady let me have it for only $7.00.  WOO HOO!

No more having to spend all that money to
mow the lawn.

It's not gas powered..........

It is.........

KIDDO POWERED!
(I like to mow it myself too!)

Welcome Home, Girls

Back on June 26, 15 little peeps were delivered to our local Post Office.  My friend G and I placed an order for our sweet little babies; 4 Rhode Island Reds, 4 Golden Buffs, 4 Barred Rocks, and 3 Partridge Rocks.  Since I didn't have a separate house for the girls and we would be going on vacation shortly, G kept the girls at her home.  A few days after they arrived, we lost Wilbur.  She was the runt of the flock (hence the name).  She was a sweet little girl.  I brought her home and buried her beside Meredith and Bethany.

Well, yesterday was FINALLY their homecoming.  I AM SO EXCITED!

We built an enclosure out of palettes in the corner.
We will keep them separated from the ladies for a few
days so they can first get used to having them around.
Already making a mess, scratching and kicking up dust!lol
IT'S A FEEDING FRENZY.....LOOK OUT
They are standing in their food trough
They just crack me up!
ha ha ha ha ha
WELCOME HOME, GIRLS.....WE'RE SO GLAD YOU'RE HERE!
