My walk today takes us back to the "I don't have a clue"time of my life! lol Literally, I really don't have ANY clue WHEN this picture was taken, but what I DO remember is that we were at Aunt Mickie and Uncle Ed's house in Cranford, NJ. Oh, how I LOVED going there! :> ) They are two of the most wonderful people you would ever want to meet.

Company's Coming

UPDATE: My brother got sick and couldn't come....WAAAAHHHH! :> (


I have been cleaning all day long like a mad , crazy woman. My brother Chris, will be arriving tomorrow and will be staying with us until Sunday.

He is flying in from Onolaska, TX where he has lived for about 3 years now and he just LOVES IT!



Chris was recently laid off and decided that while he is free to roam about the cabin unemployed, he would take this time to come and visit my sister Cathy and I for a bit!

As you can see from the picture, my brother is FREAKISHLY LARGE very tall. He stands 7'1" and when he sits down in a folding chair, he hands knuckles hit the ground! :> 0 ROFLOL!

I love to pick on my brother and he loves to pick on me, thereby leaving some unsuspecting victim alone!

I know we will have a wonderful time while he is here so I am hoping we will have some great pics to show for it!

What's On The Menu

I bought a new cookbook the other day, and I just LOVE IT! I have already tried a bunch of the recipes and they are wonderful! But my favorite so far are these Chewy Chocolate Chip Bars.

I went to a friend's house yesterday and wanted to bring something with me so I searched through and found this recipe for the chip bars. You will NOT be disappointed. The first day they are delicious, soft and oooey gooey, but the second day, they are a bit firmer and lightly crunchy and, in my opinion, MORE DELICIOUS than the day before. If that's possible! lol

For this recipe you will need:

1 cup butter or margarine, softened (I used butter)
1 cup brown sugar, divided
1/2 cup white sugar
1 tablespoon water
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 eggs, separated
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup semisweet chocolate chips
3/4 cup finely chopped walnuts, optional (I made 12/ the pan with nuts, and 1/2 without as Skippy does not like walnuts)

Preheat oven to 350*F. In mixing bowl, cream butter, 1/2 cup brown sugar, and white sugar until light and fluffy. Add water, vanilla, and egg yolks (reserve whites in separate bowl). Beat for 2 to 3 minutes. Beat in flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Spread into lightly greased 9x13-inch baking pan. Sprinkle with chocolate chips. Beat egg whites until soft peaks form; add remaining 1/2 cup brown sugar and blend well. Carefully spread over chocolate chips. Sprinkle with chopped nuts. Bake for 35 minutes or until meringue is golden brown. Cut with a sharp knife while still hot. Yields 3 dozen bars. (HA! Not in my house it didn't!) lol

Feelin' Frugal

I was surfing the net and random blogging, and found some of these WONDERFUL frugal tips!

You know those net bags that onions, some apples, and the Thanksgiving turkeys come in? Save it and use it again. Wadded up it makes a very nice pot or potato cleaner. Or run a bit of a shoelace through it to make a drawsting back and hang it up over the bathtub faucet and use for letting toys drip dry. Or put a sweater in it and tie it closed and put through the gentle cycle on the wash to keep it from snagging on something.

Using two pairs of pliers, Amy Dacyczyn worked out a replacement buckle for a broken one on a pair of overalls using a bit of old wire coat-hanger- it lasted through several more children, too!
Using pliers and wire-cutters, my husband made an over the door hanger for my bulletin board from a wire coat hanger.
Using part of a wire hanger he also fashioned a hook to help pull hair out of our drains (long-haired girls shed).
Using a wire hanger I I made a heart-shaped frame for a wreath, then wove long, grassy weeds from the yard all around it.

Take your old socks, stitch the toes together and clamp them in an old clamp style mop for a fresh new mop with lots of cleaning power.

Have a law-mower that doesn't work? Remove the motor from the base, bolt a board to the base, and you now have a dolly that does work for moving heavy items.

Sometimes your windshield wipers don't need to be replaced- they need to be cleaned. Vinegar and water should do that.

I just read about a woman who saved 30 percent of the electric bill by telling her older teenaged son that instead of charging him rent, she was making him responsible for the electric bill.

Sign up for Swagbucks, use their search engine for your regular, every day, common searches and earn swagbucks, which you can use to buy all kinds of things.
Earn points for your normal web searches, I mainly use mine for five dollar Amazon gift certificates, but there are other things, too, and right now there is a great deal running on gift certificates for Euphoria Baby (five dollar gift Certificate for ten swagbucks). I used my Amazon gift certificates to buy birthday gifts, and now I'm saving them for a new camera.

cashbaq: You get five dollars just for signing up, then various businesses will give you a certain percentage of cash back (cashbaq, get it?) when you shop through them- and these ARE businesses you might just be shopping at anyway. We've purchased eyeglasses online for 30 dollars and then got six dollars cash back, and I bought school books through Abebooks (I found several cheaper than Amazon) and got six percent of my purchase back. I bought a cool connecting blocks set and Burt's Bees lip balms at deep, deep discounts through drugstore.com, and these are both for gifts where I would have had to come up with something anyway. There are all kinds of things- it's really worth it to look and see if there aren't some regular places you already shop on the list- I bet there are, and that is the key to using this to save money rather than spend it- if it's money you were going to be spending somewhere, somehow anyway, try it through a cashbaq participating business to get a further discount.

The Price Of Children

I got an e-mail today, from my precious friend, Barb, and it is so good, I just HAVE to share it with you!

Here is something absolutely positive for a change. Having repeatedly seen the breakdown of the cost of raising a child, it was nice to see for the first time, the rewards listed in this way. It's nice.... !

The government recently calculated the cost of raising a child from birth
to 18 and came up with $160,140.00 for a middle income family. Talk about
price shock! That doesn't even touch college tuition.

But $160,140.00 isn't so bad if you break it down. It translates into:
* $8,896.66 a year,
* $741.38 a month,
* $171.08 a week.
* A mere $24.24 a day!
* Just over a dollar an hour.

Still, you might think the best financial advice is: don't have children
if you want to be 'rich'.
Actually, it is just the opposite.

* Glimpses of God every day.

without limits, so one day they will, like you, love without counting the
cost.

That is quite a deal for the price!!!!!!!

Another Sad Day On The Farm - Goodbye, Sweet Princess

Today we said goodbye to our beloved, Paws. She was a loyal companion in our lives for 11 years. Now she is having a wonderful time jumping and running around in heaven chasing Mopey! :> )

There is so much I want to say but I lack the words. My head just feels all jumbled up inside. It is amazing how a little ball of fluff can just grab a hold of your heart and won't let it go!

Rest in peace, Princess Paws............you will be greatly missed!

I really wish I knew when this picture was taken, but there was no date stamp on it anywhere.

This is my maternal grandmother. Her name is Fredericka Amelia Walker Harrington, but we called her either Fred-A, or my favorite...... FOXY! :> )

The good Lord blessed me with two of the most wonderful grandmothers anyone could ever hope for. I just pray that I will be as wonderful a grandmother to my grandchildren as both of them were to me. What encouraging, loving, compassionate women they both were!

I love and miss you, Foxy!

Oh, The Temptation

I don't know about you, but if you put a marshmallow in front of me and tell me to wait....it just ain't gonna happen! ROFLOL!

Watch as these cute little ones show just how patient they really can be!

I'm Baaaaaaaaaaaaaack! lol

I have been away this past week babysitting my grand-furbaby, Bailey. Isn't she adorable? :> ) I just love being a grandma. I have two of the CUTEST grand-furbabies around. YES, I AM BIASED! lol

I love it that Boo Boos LOVES to sleep with me (especially when it's C-O-L-D!!. She climbs up and sits on the pillow until I get comfortable. Then when I lift up the blanket, she slips down underneath and curls up on my arm under my chin. AWWW! During the night she likes to switch sides and lets you know that by sitting right at the top of your head, on your pillow, and WAITS for you to situate yourself and lift the blanket! lol It's the funniest thing to watch!

Over the weekend we had the honor of attending the 6th birthday of my close friend Gena's daughter, Anni. She is the most adorable little girl with the sweetest smile you have ever seen! She is a ballerina princess!
Here she is blowing out her candles on her beautiful birthday cake her mommy made. (I have such talented friends!)

Here, the kids had just pulled the string on the pinata that let all the candy out. Are those TOOTSIE ROLLS I SEE..........YUMM! Not only did they get the candy that was inside the pinata, but mommy and Aunt Toni threw two other bags of candy up in the air as well! lol
Can you say "SUGAR RUSH!" lol

Here's Kiddo doing what he does best. He says he is the Nintendo Master and he ROCKS video games! As you can see, he has a blocked in captive audience. I see his victim friend is sitting in the middle where there is NO ESCAPE!! lol Smart cookie!

Gotta love him! And boy, do I! He is MY WORLD!!

I just love this picture I took of the girls playing in the tires. What BEAUTIFUL girls they are....inside and out!

It was a wonderful week and a glorious weekend. Food, fun, friends, and family......what more could you ask for!

Nothing Can Separate Us....................

Our Women's Ministry and 64 other women, just finished up Beth Moore's "Loving Well" in-house retreat this past weekend. What a blessing it was to me and so many others. We received a journal in our packet, that is a follow-up of the retreat......a study that we can do for the next four weeks.

This one from Week 2 Day 5, is just amazing! Knowing that there is NOTHING that can separate us from the love of God is so AWESOME! No matter what we do......God is ALWAYS faithful and will NEVER STOP LOVING US!!! Oh, how that just melts my heart!

"For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, ,nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers,, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing will have the power to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord!" Romans 8:38-39

Your anger can't separate you from the love of God. Your sin, hatred, your self-righteousness,, your stronghold, your addiction, the Devil himself cannot separate you from the love of God. His love to us is unlike anybody else's love will ever be to us!

Beth asked the we read the following questions and statements that she believes God wants to ask or say to you. Just revel in His love for you. I know I am! :> )

1. Do you realize that I came to meet with you?

2. Do you have any idea how much I love you? How taken I am with you?

3. Do you know that I have never forsaken you nor will I ever reject you? I was there all along. I always will be.

4. Do you realize I knew everything about you the day you were conceived? I anticipated your life and planned for it.

5. You do have an enemy, My Child. But it is not Me. He wants you to think it is.

6. I am for YOU!

7. Do you think you need to prove yourself lovable to Me? Deep down inside, are you trying to earn My love and attention? (oh, don't we all feel like this sometimes?)

8. As you strive to love Me more, do you realize the key to loving Me more is to let Me love you more? (WOW!!!)

9. Why are you resisting Me? Why are you running from Me?

10. To whom have you compared Me, and with whom have you confused me?

11. I'm not like them.

12. I know what's happened, I know what's on your mind.

13. I alone know the plan for how this turns out well. I alone know how to prosper you through this.

14. My eyes and My affections are on you right now.

Thank You, Lord, that NOTHING can separate me from Your love. I rejoice today that Your love for me is perfect. There is no one like You.

What's On The Menu?

Fall Yummies


I just love fall and all that goes with it. The cool crisp air, the colors, the smells, the activities.....EVERYTHING! But I think what I love the most about the cool weather seasons is the food....soup in particular. :> ) The crockpots come out in full force and the aroma of my house during the day while dinner is cooking itself is AMAZING!

I have been making taco soup now for over a year and everyone that eats it LOVES it and doesn't go away hungry. I normally make it in on the stove, but today I used my best friend (my crockpot) to make it!

I mentioned this soup a little while ago to Hope and she asked for the recipe so here it is! :> )

For this recipe you will need:

1 lb ground beef or ground turkey
1 large onion, chopped
2 cans diced tomatoes (I used 1 large can)
2 cans navy beans, drained (I used one navy and 1 black)
1 can pinto beans, drained (or you can substitute for another
navy or black bean)
1 can corn, drained
1 can chicken broth
1 pkg Hidden Valley Ranch dressing mix
1 pkg taco seasoning (I use the store brand)



Brown meat and onion, drain. Add your diced tomatoes, all of the beans, corn, and chicken broth and stir.





Add the Hidden Valley Ranch dressing packet, stir



Add the taco seasoning packet, stir



Cover and cook on low for approximately 3-4 hours. I put mine on this morning about 11:00. My house smells amazing and if Skippy is going to be late for dinner, it's no problem.....I'll just turn it to warm!
