The View From My Window

I just love my silly ladies. They think if they come to the door and alert me of their presence they will get a treat........they so have me pegged! LOL

:-)

We Had A Visitor

We had a visitor yesterday morning.  They were very smart, lurking around until AFTER Skippy had left for work.  I didn't see what it was.....but I have a feeling it was a raccoon. I had no idea how strong and determined these little buggers can be.

It came through the screen here, and dragged a bag of
garbage back out through the window........
and made a mess.

Then my hero returns and fixes both windows....WOO HOO!
My Skippy Man to the rescue!  :D

Please Vote For Our Sweet Friend

Many of you who follow my blog visit and follow the same friends as I do.  How AWESOME that is to me to know that we have so much in common, like a lot of the same things, and are very close in our thoughts, values and beliefs.

Today I wanted to share with you (just in case you didn't already know) that our dear friend Kat, from over at ART'S CHILI PEPPER has been nominated as one of the "Top 25 Large Family Blogs" by Circle of Moms.  How cool is that?

Kat is a precious woman of God, and a very loving and devoted wife to Alan, and incredible mother and teacher to their 8 absolutely GORGEOUS children.  Her greatest goal is to see each of her children come to know the Lord and be totally sold out for Him.

Kat enjoys quiet moments with her husband, cuddling with her kids, Bible studies, Starbucks, sewing, scrapbooking, reading, cooking, healthy living, ball room dancing, Disney World, playing games, going on vacation, walks on the beach, fishing, and hanging out with her family.

If you have not been over to Kat's yet, please take a moment to stop by and say hello.  I promise  you won't be disappointed.

Quilting Fellowship With A Friend

This is me with my dear friend, G.

For a few weeks now, I have been helping her put together a quilt for her sister T's birthday, which was just this past week .

It has been a WONDERFUL time filled with fun and laughter.  A beautiful time of fellowship that I have been so blessed to have.

We machine stitched the squares together........

and did all the quilting by hand.

Do you think she likes it?
Nah...........

She LOVES it!
: > )

AND WE LOVE HER!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, T!

Ultimate Grilled Cheese

Good evening, everyone!  I have had many requests in the past few months for me to repost the "Ultimate Grilled Cheese" recipe I found.  I made this for dinner tonight, so I figured I might as well post it while I was thinking about it!

ENJOY!!

I found this recipe for Ultimate Grilled Cheese posted over on "Farm Bell Recipes at Chickens in the Road" by Michelle. If you have not been to this site, you really should check it out. There is so much information available to you there, and it's not just about cooking either!

Ok, back to the yumminess.......I didn't think my family would like this and they didn't.....they LOVED IT! I used cheddar, mozzarella, and a sprinkling of grated parmigiana in ours. The next time I make these, I will definitely make a double batch!

For this AWESOMELY EASY & DELICIOUS recipe, you will need the following:

4 ounces soft cream cheese
3/4 cup mayonnaise
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese*
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese*
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning (optional - next time, I will leave this out)(I did add the Italian seasoning tonight and REALLY liked it.  Not sure why it didn't taste good the last time)

* (Let your imagination go crazy here. Use any two or three kinds of cheese you like. If you like spicy, you could throw in some diced/minced jalapenos)

Combine cream cheese and mayonnaise. Mix in shredded cheeses and Italian seasoning.

Pile on a fair amount of the cheese mixture in your bread. Another thing that's good is to add a couple of slices of ham. Really any kind of sliced meat would work– whatever you prefer.

Butter each side of the bread–mix up the bread you use too. Grill in a hot skillet on each side until golden brown.

How To Make Your Large T-shirt Fit Again

I got to spend part of yesterday with my sweet daughter, Goose.  This doesn't happen that often anymore as she is so busy with her counseling job, so I am so thrilled when I do get to spend ANY amount of time with her.

She and Tang are going to an Atlanta Braves game this evening so yesterday, she brought over a t-shirt that she wanted wear.  Unfortunately, it was way too big on her.  She said she saw a post on Pinterest that explained how to do it.  o we took a look, and found it to be EASY PEASY!  If you would like to view that post, please click HERE!

Here is a pic of Goose in her BEFORE pic.  Notice the look on her face....not happy, and that makes this mamma sad!  :> (

The first thing we did was lay down a t-shirt that does fit, on top of the t-shirt we wanted to alter, making sure to have it centered.  Because there is a design on the front, I centered it, pinned it, then turned it back the right way to make sure I had the design right where she wanted it.

Next, I traced down the sides and took the mark for the sleeves straight out.  I will measure the length of the sleeves later so I can measure where to hem them. Time to sew a new seam over my tracing lines.  I used a black Sharpie marker as I did not have a washable marking pencil.  It is marked on the inside of the shirt and since it is navy blue, it won't show up.

After sewing a seam, I cut off the extra fabric about a quarter inch from the seam.

After I sewed the new seams and trimmed the extra fabric, I had her try the shirt on again so I could pin where she wanted the length of the sleeves to be.  I only pinned and marked and cut on one side........

then I folded the t-shirt in half and lined up the sleeves with the top of the collar so I could make sure I had both sleeves the sames length, then I cut them both to match.

After that, it was one more try on.  She wasn't happy with the length, so we shorted it up and made a new hem.  I got it to the length she wanted, then I pinned it a quarter inch longer all the way around so I could sew it with a quarter inch seam allowance.

And here is Goose in her AFTER shot.  She LOVES her new old t-shirt!   And that makes this mamma.....

VERY HAPPY!
