Snowed In

We are at the tail end of our snow storm which has dumped HUGE amounts here and has left over 200,000 Virginians without power. Unfortunately, there is more snow coming Tuesday, Wednesday, and Sunday. We have had power for 5 minutes and then it was gone. What a tease! lol So, since we have it at the moment, I wanted to let you know that we are all okay. Thank God for our wood stove. It has kept us warm and well fed.

I went out walking last night with God in the snow. We had such a WONDERFUL time together. It is one of my FAVORITE things to do. It is so peaceful and serene. It is one of the times I feel the most close to my Father. His handiwork is so evident in the beauty of it all. SIMPLY BREATHTAKING!

Please join me n praying for the power companies, that they will be able to restore power quickly and SAFELY! Lord, please protect all those that have been affected by this storm!

We'll be back soon! God bless you all!

  1. Praying you guys are safe and warm. We still have power...at the moment. Praying we don't lose it. We only have about a foot, this time. I hear you guys are nearly up to your eyeballs.....

  2. So glad you guys are doing okay. Hope your power stays on. We have snow and are slated to get more, but not as much as you evidently.

    May God be with you.

  4. Oh, I know what you mean!! We are about an hour south of DC. It started snowing yesterday morning, and is still snowing! It is beautiful, and I love it as long as I don't have to drive in it.
We had to cancel church services last Sunday, and will have to cancel them for tomorrow as well.

I wish I had a wood stove. I did when I was growing up. We do have a generator and a kerosene heater.
We still have power. Hopefully it will stay on.

That's a beautiful picture of the mountains behind you. I grew up in Alleghany County, Virginia, and I miss the mountains. It is FLAT where we live now.
We have pastored a church here on the eastern side of VA for six years. Maybe someday I'll be able to move back to the mountains.

I found your blog recently, and have enjoyed it very much. I especially like the Moses lifeguard picture. :)

    Take care and stay warm!

  10. Laura,

I am sorry you all had to be without power... but not really. I love when we lose power. It is so cozy and quiet... But I know not everyone enjoys it like I do. We have friends in VA who have been without power for days now, also. We usually lose power at the first sign of wind or snow... but not this time. I am grateful you had your wood stove to keep you snug.

I thought it was funny you mentioned about the walk in the woods. I, too, love to walk in the snow at night. Last Tuesday night when it snowed, I couldn't sleep, so in the middle of the night, I put a coat over my nightgown (didn't want to disturb Allen to try to find clothes) and went for a stroll through our property. It is so peaceful and quiet and the white covering everything makes me think of his covering of my sin. What a God we serve!!!

Hope you are safe, well and warm. Look forward to seeing you soon.

  11. I've been busy praying for all of you in the snow stricken areas! I hope your power comes on and stays on!! We got snow yesterday/last night, first really good snow we've had which I assume is what you've gotten this time around as well. The kids around here are happy, all those ice cubes in the toilet have finally paid off and they get a snow day...lol. I'm praying!!

  12. Hi Laura,

I'm sorry you lost power. We went through this a couple of years ago when we lived in KC. It was hard, but fun to at the same time. Blessings to you, hoping all is restored very soon to normal in your side of the country.
